ARTIST STATEMENT
Photographs exploring the enduring character of place.
Photography has always been my way of slowing down and paying attention.
I am drawn to places that reveal their character over time — historic streets, quiet coastlines, mountain trails, working harbors, and everyday landscapes shaped by the people who have passed through them. Rather than chasing iconic landmarks or dramatic moments, I look for the quieter details that give a place its identity: the light on an old stone wall, the geometry of a city street, a weathered porch, or a trail disappearing into the trees.
My work explores the relationship between the natural and built environment, where landscape, architecture, and human presence exist in quiet conversation. Whether photographed close to home in Pennsylvania or while traveling abroad, each image reflects the same intention: to create photographs that invite viewers to slow down, look a little longer, and experience the enduring character of a place.
These photographs are not meant to document where I've been. They are an invitation to experience how these places felt.
ABOUT ANDREW
Andrew Koffke is a Pennsylvania-based fine art photographer whose work explores the relationship between landscape, architecture, and human presence. Raised in Montgomery County and now based in Philadelphia, Andrew first developed an interest in photography through his grandfather, who carried a Nikon camera throughout his life and documented the people and places around him.
Andrew’s work is shaped by a lifelong interest in place, structure, and natural light. His background in engineering and construction informs an eye for proportion, form, and the built environment, while his photographs remain rooted in quiet observation. Whether working close to home in Pennsylvania or abroad, he is drawn to places that feel lived in, weathered, and enduring.
